MUMBAI: Three batters, one stadium map and a plan to hit the ball into the stands. JioStar has unveiled the campaign film for India’s upcoming five-match T20I series against the West Indies, built around the audacious gameplay of team India and titled “Andaaz Toofani, Khel Asmaani”.

Bringing together the confidence, flair and fearless intent of India’s next generation of T20 stars, the film celebrates the spirit of a team that is ready to play bold and take the game on. It is a fitting tone for a side that has learnt to treat the shortest format as an invitation, not a threat.

Conceptualised by JioStar, the film captures the confident new Indian team through a light-hearted exchange between Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Abhishek Sharma and captain Shreyas Iyer. Set in the team hotel, it sees Sooryavanshi and Sharma discussing specific stands, rows and seats on a stadium map, leading a staff member to believe they are planning their tickets for the upcoming home series against West Indies. Iyer then reveals that the two flamboyant openers are identifying areas where they intend to hit the ball, before confidently declaring that he will hit it out of the stands himself.

The joke works because it is true to character. Rather than staging a solemn declaration of intent, the film lets the players’ personalities do the talking, and a hotel-lobby misunderstanding says more about attacking cricket than any slogan could. The film concludes by bringing alive the campaign thought, “Andaaz toofani, khel asmaani” (fierce style, fearless game).

The film captures the fearless mindset of the young and bold Indian side, while highlighting the confidence and intent that define the ICC World T20 champions’ approach to the format. Note the framing. This is not a team hoping to arrive; it is a champion side inviting the opposition to keep up.

Speaking about the film, Siddharth Sharma, head of content studios and audience engagement, sports, JioStar, said: “With ‘Andaaz toofani, khel asmaani’, we wanted to capture the confidence and fearless intent that this Indian team brings to the T20 format. The campaign is rooted in the personalities of the players and uses relatable moments to bring alive the belief that they are looking to take the game on like no other. As the World T20 champions tip-off the home season against the West Indies, fans can expect fearless, aggressive, and blockbuster cricket from both teams, setting the stage for plenty of entertainment.”

The strategy is sound. Campaigns rooted in relatable moments travel further than those built on rhetoric, and a light-hearted film about seat numbers is easier to share than a speech about intent. It also promises something to both camps, since Sharma expects fearless and aggressive cricket from both teams.

The calendar adds to the appeal. India’s five-match T20I series against the West Indies will follow the three-match ODI series, as the Indian team begins its home season. With a new generation of players bringing confidence, intent and attacking cricket to the fore, the series promises plenty of moments for fans to look forward to. Viewers can catch all the live action from the five-match T20I series from 6th to 17th October, exclusively on JioHotstar and Star Sports Network.

For fans, the message is simple: keep your eyes on the stands, because the batters certainly will.
