Discovery to premiere Declassified Operation Sindoor on 15 August

MUMBAI: The secrets are coming out of the shadows. Discovery is set to premiere Declassified: Operation Sindoor, a two-part docuseries offering a behind-the-scenes account of the military operation through interviews with senior defence and national security officials, operational commanders and frontline personnel.

The series will premiere exclusively on Discovery and discovery+ on 15 August 2026 from 9 PM to 11 PM, coinciding with India’s 80th Independence Day.

At the centre of the documentary is Ajit Doval, National Security Advisor of India, who speaks publicly about Operation Sindoor for the first time since the operation. He says the objective was to destroy enemy camps, particularly those responsible for the Pahalgam attack, while sending a broader message about India’s willingness to respond decisively.

Part One traces the operation back to the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack, following how intelligence and armed forces teams gathered information, conducted surveillance, identified targets and carried out mock drills before preparing for multiple scenarios. The planning, according to the series, focused on precision while seeking to minimise civilian and military casualties.

Part Two shifts from the drawing board to the battlefield, covering the execution of the operation and the coordination between the Army, Navy and Air Force. First-hand accounts detail the decisions made in real time as the strikes unfolded and the mission moved towards completion.

The documentary also explores the strategic thinking behind the operation, including target assessment, changing circumstances and the responsibility placed on personnel executing the mission.

General Anil Chauhan (Retd.), former Chief of Defence Staff, discusses the response to the Pahalgam attack and the importance of knowing when to end a conflict. He also reflects on the role of two women officers who represented the armed forces during a press briefing, saying their presence conveyed that women would not be deterred by such attacks and that India’s social fabric would remain resilient.

Beyond military leadership, Declassified: Operation Sindoor brings together defence experts and people closely associated with the operation, aiming to move the narrative beyond headlines and into the decisions and experiences behind it.

The series marks a new factual storytelling franchise for Warner Bros. Discovery in India. Arjun Nohwar, SVP & Managing Director, India & South Asia, Warner Bros. Discovery, said the project aims to take viewers closer to a significant chapter in India’s recent military history through the people who led and experienced it.

The docuseries is co-directed by Prabhu Asgaonkar and Manika Berry, who said the production focused on documenting the operation with “honesty, depth and responsibility” while using the access given to them to build the story around first-hand accounts.

Discovery is supporting the launch with a 360-degree campaign spanning outdoor, television, cinema, digital and social media. The campaign includes large-scale projections at locations including Mumbai’s Sea Link and WeWork BKC, with crimson-red visuals inspired by the symbolism of sindoor.

Declassified: Operation Sindoor will air on Discovery and discovery+ on 15 August from 9 PM to 11 PM.
