CNA renews ‘Meet Me There’ for second season with star-studded Singapore cast
Nippon TV format returns for National Day with new twists and familiar faces
Tokyo: Some invitations need no explanation. Just three words, “Meet me there”, are enough to set another emotional journey in motion as Nippon TV’s unscripted format Meet Me There returns to Singapore for a second season.
The new season will once again be produced by CNA, the English-language news and current affairs brand of Mediacorp, following the success of its debut earlier this year.
The first episode will premiere on CNA on 10 August, before the full season airs across 15, 16 and 17 August. Episodes will also be available to stream on YouTube. The broadcast has been timed to coincide with Singapore’s 61st National Day celebrations.
Season two features a line-up of well-known Singapore personalities, including Mediacorp artistes Zoe Tay and Aileen Tan, inaugural Singapore Idol winner Taufik Batisah and chef as well as MasterChef Singapore judge Bjorn Shen.
The show’s first Singapore season premiered on 21 March 2026 and attracted a cumulative audience of 365,800 viewers aged 15 and above across television and digital platforms, according to integrated viewership data. It averaged 199,900 viewers per episode and also gained traction through the CNA Insider YouTube channel.
Originally created by Nippon TV, Meet Me There follows a simple but emotional premise. Each episode begins with a handwritten note carrying only the words “Meet me there”. The recipient, known as the Target, must locate the mysterious meeting place within eight hours using only memories shared with the Sender waiting at the destination.
For the second season, CNA has introduced a new visual countdown timer that tracks the remaining time as participants race to find one another, adding a fresh layer of suspense to the format.
As the Target retraces meaningful places from shared relationships, whether friendships, family bonds or romantic milestones, the journey unfolds through memories, missed turns and emotional reunions that form the heart of the series.
According to Nippon TV sales and licensing executive, Raku Iizuka, the strong audience response to the first season made renewing the partnership with CNA a natural step. He said the new season combines a more prominent cast with additional storytelling elements, making the emotional experience even more engaging for viewers.
The renewal highlights the continued international appeal of Japanese unscripted formats, with broadcasters increasingly adapting emotionally driven stories for local audiences while adding market-specific twists.
