NEW DELHI: News18 India is giving its flagship debate show a refreshed voice and sharper editorial focus as it announces a new chapter for Goonj, with anchor Arpita Arya taking over the programme.

The revamped edition of Goonj will air on weekdays at 4:50 pm starting June 18, aiming to strengthen the channel’s prime-time line-up with a more structured and data-driven approach to news debates.

The show, known for bringing high-impact national conversations to television, will continue to focus on key issues of public interest, but with a stronger emphasis on verified data, factual reporting and visual explainers designed to add context and clarity. The format will also lean more heavily on graphics-led storytelling to help audiences follow complex developments.

Speaking on the relaunch, News18 India managing editor Jyoti Kamal said, “Goonj has consistently been one of News18 India’s most trusted and influential properties, shaping conversations around the issues that matter most to the nation. As we strengthen our prime-time offering, our focus remains on delivering journalism that is credible, sharp, and impactful. With a stronger emphasis on facts, context, and meaningful discourse, Goonj will continue to be a powerful platform for informed national conversations.”

Taking over as anchor, Arpita Arya said, “News18 India Goonj is a show that viewers deeply trust, and I am truly excited to be taking on this responsibility. Today, audiences are looking for more clarity and context around the news that impacts their lives. Through meaningful conversations, sharp debates, and fact-based discussions backed by data and explainers, our effort will be to help viewers better understand the issues that matter most.”

With its refreshed format and renewed editorial focus, Goonj aims to double down on informed debate and sharper analysis as it continues its weekday run across News18 India and YouTube.
