MUMBAI: When nature is pushed to the edge, the most remarkable stories often begin. At this year’s Mumbai International Film Festival, one such story is set to take centre stage. Warner Bros. Discovery has announced that Animal Planet’s Force of Nature has been selected for a prestigious Gala Premiere screening at the Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) 2026, offering audiences an early look at a documentary series that explores both the fury of climate change and the resilience of the natural world.

The festival will run from 15 to 21 June in Mumbai, with the first episode scheduled for screening on 16 June at 7:15 pm.

Narrated by award-winning actor Andrew Lincoln, the six-part series has been three years in the making and examines how ecosystems and wildlife across the globe are responding to increasingly extreme weather events. Rather than focusing solely on destruction, the series shines a light on nature’s extraordinary capacity to adapt, recover and endure.

Through cinematic storytelling and character-led narratives, Force of Nature follows animals navigating hurricanes, floods, droughts and wildfires, revealing the ingenuity and survival instincts that emerge when environments are pushed to their limits.

The opening episode paints a vivid picture of a world where weather patterns are becoming more volatile and unpredictable. On the American prairies, a burrowing owl mother shelters her chicks from intensifying tornadoes using underground tunnels and razor-sharp hearing. In Kenya, two veteran cheetah brothers battle record floods and territorial rivals, while in the Arctic, a young polar bear is forced inland as disappearing sea ice reshapes her habitat. Meanwhile, in drought-hit Senegal, chimpanzees search abandoned gold mines and dig makeshift wells in their quest for water.

Together, these stories weave a powerful portrait of resilience in an era of accelerating environmental change.

The Gala Premiere selection adds international visibility to a series that blends urgent climate themes with emotional storytelling. It also highlights MIFF’s growing role as a platform for globally relevant factual content that resonates beyond geographical boundaries.

Following its festival debut, Force of Nature will premiere on Animal Planet on 19 September, before arriving on discovery+ on 25 September.

As conversations around climate change grow louder, Force of Nature arrives with a timely reminder: while the planet may be under pressure, its capacity to fight back remains one of the greatest stories ever told.
