Alan Walker and STING Energy turn Formula 1 roar into global anthem in Barcelona
‘The Sting Within Me’ debuts at Barcelona GP 2026, blending F1 soundscape with music
BARCELONA: From engine roar to earworm, Formula 1 has found its latest remix, and this time it is set to the beat of a global dance anthem. A new track titled The Sting Within Me, created by Alan Walker in collaboration with STING Energy, was unveiled live during the Formula 1 MSC Cruises Barcelona Grand Prix 2026 weekend, turning the sport’s raw soundscape into a high-energy musical experience.
Built using actual Formula 1 audio elements, the track blends engine revs, race ambience and cinematic electronic production to recreate the tension and adrenaline of a race weekend. The idea stems from an online viral moment where fans compared the sound of Formula 1 engines to the word “STINGGG”, a connection that eventually evolved into a full-scale global music project.
For Walker, the collaboration was as personal as it was creative. Speaking at the launch, Alan Walker said, “Formula 1 already sounds electronic to me. The engines have rhythm, the build-up, the atmosphere, the tension, everything has a rhythm. I wanted the track to hit with the same pressure as a race start. Going live with it in Barcelona made it even more surreal because you could feel that emotion among fans in real time.”
The track was developed in collaboration with Warner Music India and shaped through access to official race audio and insights from within the paddock, including exchanges with George Russell.
Industry leaders say the project reflects a broader shift in how Formula 1 is consumed beyond the racetrack. Emily Prazer noted that modern F1 engagement now extends into culture, sound and digital experiences, with collaborations like this helping bring the sport closer to everyday audiences.
From the commercial side, Eugene Willemsen said the project grew from a viral fan observation into a cultural crossover, adding that STING Energy has effectively become part of the sport’s evolving identity among younger audiences.
Jay Mehta highlighted the collaboration as an example of how music and sport are increasingly converging, with artists and brands building experiences that extend beyond traditional releases.
The debut at the Barcelona Grand Prix marked the first live audience experience of the track, where fans heard Formula 1’s signature intensity translated into a shared musical moment. Released globally via Warner Music India, The Sting Within Me is now available across streaming platforms, aiming to carry the sound of Formula 1 far beyond the circuit and into everyday listening
