Expanded MPL 2026 season gets a major boost with Aditya Birla Group backing
MADHYA PRADESH – The MPL T20 Scindia Cup is gearing up for a bigger innings this year, and it now has a heavyweight name backing the action. Aditya Birla Group has officially come onboard as the title sponsor for the 2026 edition of the tournament, giving the fast-growing cricket league a major commercial and visibility boost ahead of the new season.
The partnership marks another significant step in the evolution of the MPL T20 Scindia Cup, which has steadily built its reputation as a key platform for emerging cricket talent across Madhya Pradesh.
This year’s edition is set to be the tournament’s biggest so far, with an expanded structure featuring 10 men’s teams and five women’s franchises. Organisers believe the addition of a major corporate name like the Aditya Birla Group reflects the league’s growing stature in India’s domestic cricket ecosystem.
Speaking about the partnership, Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association president Mahanaaryaman Scindia said, “We are delighted to have Aditya Birla Group onboard as the title sponsor for MPL 2026. Their association adds great value and strength to the league. Having the support of such a respected and globally recognised brand will further help the tournament grow and provide a bigger platform for emerging cricketers from Madhya Pradesh.”
The commercial partnership is also being seen as a positive signal for regional sports leagues, which are increasingly attracting corporate interest as viewership and grassroots engagement continue to grow.
Adding to the excitement, the 2026 season will feature several new franchises in both the men’s and women’s competitions. In the men’s category, Malwa Stallions, Ujjain Falcons and Royal Nimar Eagles will make their debut alongside existing teams including defending champions Bhopal Leopards.
The women’s competition has also expanded with the inclusion of Gwalior Shernis and Royal Nimar Eagles, taking the total number of women’s teams to five.
Sport Ex Consultancy founder and CEO Rohan Gupta described the partnership as a strong endorsement of the league’s rapid growth. He said “We are extremely happy to have a prestigious group like the Aditya Birla Group associated with the MPL T20 Scindia Cup. Their association adds tremendous value to the league and reflects the growing stature and credibility of MPL as a sporting platform.”
The tournament officially begins on June 3, with Gwalior Cheetahs taking on Ujjain Falcons at the Holkar Stadium in the opening men’s fixture.
The women’s competition starts a day later at Daly College in Indore, adding another layer of excitement to a season expected to feature more matches, fresh rivalries and wider fan engagement.
With larger team line-ups, growing corporate support and increased opportunities for young players, MPL 2026 looks ready to bat well beyond the boundary as Madhya Pradesh continues strengthening its cricketing pipeline.
