HP invests in Singapore’s Wubble.ai to bring AI audio tools to its PCs

The deal, structured around equity milestones, gives HP a practical use case for AI PCs and gives Wubble.ai a route into millions of devices across Asia-Pacific

SINGAPORE: Every hardware maker currently selling AI PCs faces the same awkward question from customers: fine, but what does the AI actually do for me. HP’s answer, for now, is audio, and its investment in Wubble.ai, a Singapore-based startup that lets users generate music, voices and sound effects from a simple text prompt, is a reasonably sharp attempt to give that question a concrete answer.

The structure of the deal is worth noting before the substance. Rather than a straightforward acquisition or a purely financial punt, HP has tied its investment to five milestones covering build, deploy and scale, with equity of up to 5 per cent in Wubble.ai unlocking as each is met. That is a sensible way to back an early-stage company: the capital follows delivery rather than promise, and both sides have skin in the game as the product actually reaches customers rather than sitting in a pilot programme indefinitely.

Wubble.ai itself is tackling a genuinely underserved problem. Businesses and individual creators producing videos, podcasts, livestreams or marketing content routinely juggle several separate tools to source music, manage rights, record voiceovers and build sound effects, a fragmented workflow that smaller organisations without dedicated production resources often cannot sustain. Wubble.ai’s pitch is to collapse that into one conversational interface: describe the sound, generate options, refine within the same platform. That it can run on-device as well as in the cloud matters too, since edge processing cuts latency and keeps some of the workload off remote servers entirely, an increasingly fashionable model among hardware makers keen to prove their devices are doing more than routing requests elsewhere.

Ketan Patel, president of personal systems at HP, made the underlying thesis explicit: the future of AI is hybrid, not every workload belongs in the cloud, and the PC is evolving from a passive productivity tool into what he called a more intelligent access point for new experiences. That is corporate language for a fairly sound observation. If AI PCs are to justify their premium over ordinary machines, the case has to be made through applications people actually want to use, not through spec sheets. Audio, ubiquitous across content formats and still largely under-automated for non-specialists, is a sensible place to make that case.

The commercial mechanics reinforce the point. The initial rollout spans Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, South Korea and Australia, with eligible HP consumer PCs and gaming products, including the OmniBook, All-in-One, OMEN and HyperX ranges, bundling a complimentary three-month Wubble.ai subscription during the launch period. That gives Wubble.ai instant access to a large installed base, the sort of distribution a young startup would otherwise spend years and considerable marketing budget chasing. Anand Roy, the startup’s founder and chief executive, framed the ambition as democratising music and audio creation for a much broader group of users than trained specialists, a goal that a distribution partnership of this scale meaningfully advances.

The wider context matters too. Garage 2.0, HP’s Singapore-based innovation programme for AI startups, launched in 2025 and has since expanded to South Korea, positioning the city-state as an early testbed for partnerships designed to scale regionally. Wubble.ai, part of the programme’s inaugural cohort, is now the clearest evidence yet that the model can move a startup from early development to genuine customer access rather than remaining a showcase exercise. For an industry under pressure to prove that AI-labelled hardware is more than marketing, that is a useful data point.
