Pocket FM’s witty Mumbai billboards put storytelling in the spotlight
New OOH campaign uses humour across Bandra, Andheri and Haji Ali locations
MUMBAI: Sometimes the best way to tell a story is to admit your billboard isn’t the hero. Pocket FM has taken a refreshingly self-aware route with its latest out-of-home (OOH) campaign in Mumbai, using humour to remind commuters that its real strength lies in storytelling not spectacular hoardings.
The campaign is now live across three of Mumbai’s busiest corridors Bandra Thackeray Flyover, Andheri Jogeshwari Flyover and Haji Ali where the creative embraces minimalism instead of visual extravagance.
The billboard delivers a playful punchline, “Great at telling stories” gets a confident tick, while “Great at designing billboards” is marked with a cheeky cross. The understated approach turns the spotlight away from the advertisement itself and towards Pocket FM’s core offering of immersive audio entertainment.
Rather than relying on elaborate visuals or lengthy messaging, the campaign uses self-deprecating humour to create a memorable brand moment, reinforcing the platform’s identity as a destination for engaging stories across genres including thrillers, romance, drama and fantasy.
Strategically positioned along high-traffic commuter routes, the hoardings also highlight how travel time can double up as listening time, encouraging audiences to transform everyday journeys into immersive storytelling experiences.
The campaign reflects a growing trend in outdoor advertising where wit, simplicity and sharp copy increasingly outperform visual clutter. By acknowledging the medium while gently poking fun at it, Pocket FM has created a campaign that is likely to earn attention not because of how much it says but because of how little it needs to.
