Blink Digital vs Meta: the case of the disabled accounts

Bombay High Court gives Facebook India two weeks to reply, tells everyone to reconvene on 12 October before anyone touches a byte

MUMBAI: Mumbai-based digital marketing/ad agency Blink Digital India  has taken Facebook India Online Services the local arm of Meta, to the commercial division of the Bombay High Court. The reason: its Meta Business Manager accounts and corporate pages have been disabled by Meta. Business Manager is the tool agencies use to manage multiple client ad accounts, pages and campaigns on Facebook/Instagram — so getting locked out of it effectively cuts an agency off from running its clients’ social media and ad operations.

Blink filed a commercial suit (commercial suit (L) No. 31434 of 2026) against Facebook India Online Services and, likely, Meta Platforms Inc, seeking relief over the disabling of those accounts and pages. Alongside the suit, it moved an interim application (IA (L) No. 31469 of 2026) asking the court for interim relief while the main case is heard.

The first hearing, before justice Sandeep V Marne on 17 September, wasn’t a slugfest. It was a scheduling exercise, and a fairly polite one at that.

Marne was hearing interim application (L) no. 31469 of 2026, filed inside commercial suit (L) no. 31434 of 2026.

He gave Facebook India two weeks to file its affidavit-in-reply opposing Blink’s application. Blink then gets a week after that to hit back with a rejoinder.

Mark the calendar for the date that actually matters: 12 October, 4:30 pm. That’s when the interim application gets argued for real.

Till then, there’s one condition on the table. Senior advocate Janak Dwarkadas, appearing for defendant no. 2, told the court that the data belonging to Blink will be preserved in accordance with law until the next date. So whatever this fight is about, the evidence stays put.

Kunal Dwarkadas led for Blink, with Siddharth Joshi, Nabeel Malik, Nikita Sharma, Sarthak Sharma, Naval Sharma and Akhila D V in tow, briefed by Tuli & Co. Rishabh Jaisani appeared for Facebook India as defendant no. 1, instructed by Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas, the same firm that briefed Janak Dwarkadas for defendant no. 2, alongside Amee Rana, Harit Lakhani and Abhishek Mookherjee.

What Blink is actually accusing Meta of doing isn’t in this order. That’s the part still locked away till the lawyers open up on 12 October.

For now, the score reads: adjournment 1, drama 0. Everyone’s back in court next month, and the data had better still be there.
