Veteran filmmaker Dutta passes away

MUMBAI: Veteran writer- director-producer O.P. Dutta passed away at the Kokilaben hospital in Mumbai yesterday.

Dutta began his career in 1948 when he directed Pyaar Ki Jeet. This was followed by films like Hamari Manzil (1949), Surajmukhi (1950), Ek Nazar (1951), Parbat (1952), Malkin (1953), Lagan (1955), Hulare (1957) and Aangan (1959).

Later, he went on to collaborate with directors such as Ramanand Sagar, Rajender Singh Bedi, Kaifi Azmi and others.

Dutta has been credited for writing the story and dialogues of all JP Dutta‘s films, including Ghulami, Hathyar, Border, Refugee and his final film Umrao Jaan.
