Total foreign shareholding in Zee Tele 62%

NEW DELHI: The total foreign shareholding in the Subhash Chandra-promoted Zee Telefilms stands at 61.70 per cent in which the foreign promoters’ holding is 24.20 per cent.
The Indian promoters’ holding in the company stands at 23.51 per cent, according to information made available by the company itself.
If the company has to continue getting uplink permission from India for its Zee News channel, then the foreign holding in Zee Telefilms would have to be brought down to 26 per cent, the maximum permissible limit mandated by the Indian government.
If the company does not wish to do this, then it has an option of setting up another company that would look after the existing and future news venture with majority Indian shareholding as done in the case of Star News.
