SET acquires Veer Zaara, Dhoom and Hum Tum

MUMBAI: Sony Entertainment Television India seems to be in an overdrive on the film acquisition front. Making a clean sweep of all the Yash-Raj films released in 2004-05, Sony has bought the rights of Veer Zaara, Dhoom, and Hum Tum.

Along with these blockbusters, SET has also renewed the rights to another 23 super hits from the Yash Chopra library. These are Saathiya, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Dil To Pagal Hai, Mujhse Dosti Karoge, Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai, Mohabbatein, Kabhi Kabhie, Darr, Lamhe, Silsila, Kala Patthar, Daag, Aaina, Noorie, Doosra Aadmi, Yeh Dillagi, Mashaal, Faasle, Vijay, Indian Summer (English version of Lamhe), Hum Ko Ishq Ne Mara, Sawaal and Nakhuda.

In a statement SET India CEO Kunal Dasgupta says, “It gives me great pleasure to announce that we have bought the telecast rights of three of the biggest hits of this year – Veer Zaara, Dhoom and Hum Tum.”

Dasgupta says, amongst the acquisitions, these films have swept most of the popular movie awards, and are truly the best of popular Hindi movies released over the past year. “All these acquisitions underline the fact that we believe in bringing only the biggest and the best of entertainment to our viewers, while reaffirming the relationship we share with eminent producer- director Yash Chopra, who has given us some of the most memorable movies of all time in Indian cinema.”

Chopra observes, “I have always shared an excellent relationship with SET and Sony and MAX are channels that present films in their unique, inimitable style, which I feel will do justice to these films. “

MUMBAI: Samsung TV Plus has just turned up the laughter volume and it’s completely free. The leading free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) service in India has launched Kings of Comedy, a premium comedy channel featuring some of the country’s most beloved primetime shows. Available exclusively on Samsung TV Plus, the channel delivers back-to-back hits including Comedy Nights with Kapil, Khatra Khatra Khatra, and Comedy Nights Bachao, with no login or subscription required.

The launch marks a milestone for free streaming in India, offering audiences a dedicated comedy destination directly from their Samsung TV home screen. It arrives as Samsung TV Plus India celebrates its 5th anniversary, during which the service has grown its monthly active users by 42 per cent and more than doubled its total viewing hours.
