ETC Punjabi, Alpha Punjabi head gets media award
MUMBAI: The President of ETC Punjabi and Alpha Punjabi Rabindra Narayan has been honoured by the Punjabi Academy, Government of NCT. He has been given the Punjabi Media Award (2002-2003), for popularising Punjabi culture and ethos through television.
An official release informs that the award was presented by Delhi’s Chief Minister and Punjabi Academy chairperson Shiela Dixit at the FICCI Auditorium in New Delhi. The function held every year honours eminent Litterateurs, artists, journalists and media personalities. This is the most awaited event in the calendar for the Punjabi community. The award carries a citation, memento and a shawl besides a cash prize of Rs 21,000.
The Academy commended the important role he played in putting Gurbani on the world�s television map. Gurbani Keertan started airing from from Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar in 1998. Since then, this daily telecast has gone live on ETC Punjabi in Asia and on various Zee platforms across the globe. Millions of devotees savour this telecast from the sanctum of Sikhism. Narayan has also been a journalist and theatre person in a career spanning over two decades.
