Disney toons make a grand landing in Mumbai
MUMBAI: Mickey and his friends have arrived in Mumbai! The six member toon gang comprising Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and Chip ‘N Dale who set foot in India on 4 January at the Sahar International Airport, were received by The Walt Disney Company (India) managing director Rajat Jain.
The arrival of the characters will usher in more than three weeks of classic Disney entertainment for kids. The toons will perform at ‘Disney Magic’, a star studded musical extravaganza that brings alive the charm and magic of Disney’s most loved characters through 24 live shows in six cities across India.
India is the first country where ‘Disney Magic’ will enthrall audiences as part of their six nation tour in the Asian-Pacific region. This is also the first ever live performance by Disney characters in India. The performance in Mumbai is slated for 7 January, in Ahmedabad on 11 January, Delhi on 14 January, Kolkatta on 21 January, Hyderabad on 26 January and Bangalore on 29 January. The visit will also be a chance for Disney Channel’s young viewers and their families to meet the stars up-close and personal on the stage.
“Disney Magic brings in the much-engrossing, live performances of the Disney stars and is an important step towards furthering Disney Channel’s efforts in redefining kids entertainment in India. Ensuring an enriching and relevant brand experience for kids in India has been an important agenda for us. Our initiatives in India are aimed at imbibing and reflecting the culture, tastes and preferences of Indian kid’s with Disney hallmarks of quality, innovation, fun, decency and community development,” said Jain.
“India is a priority market for Disney. As the global leaders in kid’s and family entertainment with a long term vision of this market, we aim to be thoroughly in touch with our customers. Disney Magic is a path breaking initiative in the kids entertainment space in India and Disney Channel will continue to provide such globally acclaimed experiences to our Indian kids in the years ahead,” he added.

Adding extra sparkle to the celebration, popular comedian Kiku Sharda has joined the campaign. He anchors the integration with a lively rap track titled ‘Shin chan ka YAY! Dhamaal’, infusing contemporary music and humour into the beloved series.

Starting 27 April, viewers can enjoy the World Television Premiere of Shin chan along with new episodes and an exciting lineup of blockbuster movies on Sony YAY!.
