Discovery sets up Media Services to provide production solutions
MUMBAI: In a bid to strengthen production capabilities, Discovery Communications Inc announced the launch of Discovery Media Services, last week.
The Media Services will provide end-to-end production and post-production solutions for all of Discovery’s networks worldwide as well as be responsible for origination services for the US Networks.
The Media Service comprises Discovery’s Production Group, Television Operation Group and Television Technology Group. The newly formed department will be led by executive vice president Marcos Obadia, the former senior vice president and general manager of the Discovery Production Group, says a company release.
Discovery Production Group is the production services division for both international and domestic channels with centers in both Miami and Silver Spring. The Television Operations Group manages the network operations group and network origination services for Discovery Networks, US, informs the release.
The Media Services will launch a new network origination facility in Sterling, for the 15 domestic channels in 2005.

Globally, Samsung TV Plus has surpassed 100 million monthly active users across more than 4,500 channels, solidifying its position as one of the world’s leading free streaming services.
