MUMBAI: As US broadcasters increasingly use reality shows to bolster the ratings, CBS has come up with a concept that winks broadly at NBC’s show The Apprentice.

In the NBC show hosted by real estate magnet Donald Trump one contestant hears the dreaded words ‘You are fired’ at the end of the episode. In the CBS show which will start airing in June, the participants cannot wait to get fired.

The show in question is called Fire Me… Please. The reality series follows two people starting new jobs on the same day. The participants’ goal is to intentionally get fired by a certain time. The person who gets fired first wins $25,000.

Hidden cameras capture the action as the participants drive their managers and co-workers crazy with outrageous behaviour.

Meanwhile the sixth edition of CBS’ reality show Big Brother kicks off in July. For the uninitiated the show follows a group of strangers living together in a house outfitted with dozens of cameras and microphones recording their every move 24 hours a day.
