Al-Jazeera launches new channel Al-Jazeera Live

MUMBAI: Qatar-based Al-Jazeera Satellite Television has brought in a new channel Al-Jazeera Live to provide live telecasts of conferences. The content would be unedited and without commentary.

The channel will cover conferences focusing on political, social and cultural issues. Al-Jazeera Live was kicked off on 18 April by covering the network’s TV production festival.

Meanwhile, Al-Jazeera MD Waddah Khanfar stated in a press conference that the company’s proposed English news channel would be launched in early 2006. The channel, to be headquartered in Doha, will have offices and news bureaux in London, Washington and Kuala Lumpur.
