Toxic crosses Rs 30 crore in advance bookings ahead of August 26 release
Yash starrer sells 6.46 lakh tickets but remains behind KGF Chapter 2’s Rs 60 crore
MUMBAI: Toxic is already making some noise before it hits the screen. Yash’s upcoming period gangster action film has crossed Rs 30 crore in gross advance bookings, with around 6.46 lakh tickets sold ahead of its theatrical release on August 26, 2026, according to trade tracker Sacnilk.
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups marks Yash’s first major theatrical release in nearly four years, following the blockbuster KGF: Chapter 2. The advance numbers suggest considerable interest in his return, although the film still has some catching up to do.
KGF: Chapter 2 reportedly collected around Rs 60 crore through advance bookings in 2022. That puts Toxic at roughly half the pre-release advance sales of Yash’s previous blockbuster, despite having already crossed the Rs 30 crore mark.
The comparison will be closely watched as Toxic attempts to build its own pan-India franchise appeal around Yash and an ensemble cast featuring Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi and Rukmini Vasanth.
Karnataka has emerged as one of the strongest markets for the film, with other trade reports also putting its pre-release gross above Rs 30 crore.
The film has generated further attention through its promotional campaign and pre-release developments. Toxic has received an A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification, with reports stating that no scenes were cut, although two words were muted.
A promotional event in Hyderabad also made headlines after a sound setup reportedly collapsed into the crowd, leaving four people injured.
For Yash, however, the bigger test begins once the advance-booking counter closes and the theatres open. KGF: Chapter 2 set a formidable benchmark for the actor, becoming one of the biggest pan-India releases of its time.
With further bookings expected before August 26, Toxic now has a clear target in sight. The advance numbers may not yet be KGF-sized, but the box-office conversation has certainly begun.
