Spider-Man: Brand New Day teams up with Banjaare for emotional heartbreak anthem
‘Barsaat’ captures Peter Parker’s emotional journey ahead of the film’s July 30 release
Mumbai: Every superhero has a breaking point, and this time, Spider-Man is wearing his heart on his sleeve. Ahead of the July 30 release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Sony Pictures Entertainment India has teamed up with indie music duo Banjaare and Sony Music India to release an emotional track, Barsaat, inspired by Peter Parker’s heartbreak.
The song explores the emotional aftermath of the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, where Peter Parker is forced to live with the painful reality that Zendaya’s MJ no longer remembers him. While the upcoming film promises high-octane superhero action, it also focuses on Peter’s emotional struggle as he comes to terms with losing the person he loves.
Composed and performed by Banjaare, Barsaat reflects Peter Parker’s loneliness and longing, adding an emotional layer to the film’s promotional campaign. The collaboration follows the release of the film’s upbeat Spider-Man anthem earlier this month.
Speaking about the song, Banjaare members Sumit and Anuj said Barsaat was born from their own experiences with heartbreak, making the collaboration feel deeply personal.
Banjaare members Sumit and Anuj said the song was written during a period when they were navigating personal struggles and heartbreak. They added that after watching the trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, they immediately recognised similarities between Peter Parker’s emotional journey and the feelings captured in Barsaat.
The duo also said they were delighted to see Haryanvi music reaching a global audience through the collaboration.
Reflecting on their long-standing admiration for the franchise, the musicians said the music from Spider-Man: Homecoming had left a lasting impression on them. While Tom Holland’s Spider-Man remains their favourite version of the superhero, they described composer Michael Giacchino as their favourite musical force behind the franchise.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to release in India on July 30 in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. Alongside its superhero spectacle, the film appears set to explore a more vulnerable side of Peter Parker, with Barsaat offering audiences an early glimpse into the heartbreak that awaits.
