MUMBAI: Gotham may be getting another face and this one apparently comes with two sides. Sebastian Stan has seemingly confirmed that he will play Harvey Dent in Matt Reeves’ The Batman: Part 2, potentially setting up the character’s transformation into the iconic villain Two-Face.

Stan had previously been linked to the role, but neither the actor nor director Matt Reeves had officially confirmed his character. That secrecy appeared to crack during an interview with French outlet Le Journal du Dimanche, where Stan reportedly referred to himself as playing Harvey Dent while discussing the highly guarded production.

The actor had fuelled speculation earlier in May when he said he would play “many roles in this one”, a comment that fans interpreted as a possible nod to Dent’s eventual split personality.

Dent is Gotham’s district attorney who becomes one of Batman’s most prominent adversaries after being transformed into Two-Face. The character was previously played by Aaron Eckhart in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy.

Stan’s apparent confirmation comes as The Batman: Part 2 moves deeper into production. The film is currently shooting in the UK, with recent footage and social media posts pointing to sequences being filmed around Liverpool, including the Birkenhead Tunnel.

Set activity has also offered glimpses of GCPD vehicles and Robert Pattinson’s stunt double, while the Batmobile recently appeared in Glasgow, with the Scottish city once again doubling for Gotham. Glasgow has also been used as a stand-in for New York in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

The sequel has already undergone a release-date shift and is now scheduled to arrive in cinemas on 18 February 2028. The film will once again see Robert Pattinson return as Batman, with Reeves directing.

For Stan, the apparent Dent reveal adds another major comic-book role to an already packed superhero slate. He is also set to reprise Bucky Barnes in Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday, due in cinemas on 18 December 2026.

Stan has previously described the Marvel production as unusually secretive, saying actors were not given the full script and instead filmed scattered scenes as the project continued to evolve. If Bucky makes it through Doomsday, he is also expected to feature in Avengers: Secret Wars, scheduled for December 2027.

With The Batman: Part 2 now filming and Dent apparently stepping into Gotham’s courtroom, the sequel may be preparing to give Batman a villain who brings a whole new meaning to seeing both sides of the story.
