Rahul Dholakia making film inspired by Nandigram

MUMBAI: Rahul Dholakia, best known to pick up political and social issues and churn them into films like Parzania and Lamha: The Untold Story of Kashmir, has this time chosen corporate crime as the theme for his forthcoming movie Kanoon to be produced by B.R. Films.

” It‘s a fiction set in Kolkata. It‘s a courtroom drama on corporate crime and has a close reference to the Nandigram issue. Actually, it shows how common poor people suffer and lose their lives in political or corporate clashes. It‘s something around those lines,” Dholakia has been quoted as saying.

Dholakia had started working on the film a year ago but it got stalled as BR Films head honcho Ravi Chopra was undergoing some health problems. “Almost after a year, B.R. Films has revived it again. Actually Ravi was not keeping well, hence it got delayed. We are ready with the first draft of it. We are sitting and reviving that. Hopefully, we will finish that very soon and after that we would approach the actors,” said Dholakia.

As the film is set in Kolkata, it would have some Bengali artistes. “It would be a star-studded film and there would be someone from Bengal. The film will also be staged in Kolkata,” Dholakia maintains.

Dholakia has also rebuffed the false claims of director Akashdeep who recently said that the former would direct portions of his next Baap Ka Maal.
