Phillipino makes first Hindi film Ek Bura Aadmi
MUMBAI: Philippino filmmaker Bai Zenaida Mastura, better known as Bai Zena, has made her fist Hindi film Ek Bura Aadmi under the banner of Philind Motion Pictures.
A political thriller, the film is set in a town in North India. “As a sister of a politician in Mindanao, (Philippines), I was attracted to producing Ek Bura Aadmi because it is a political thriller,” she said. She confessed that making films was her passion and has nothing do with religion or being a Muslim.
Now a resident of Mumbai, Mastura recently finished the shooting of her film that has cost her around Rs 30.5 million. “We have finished shooting the movie. There are some more patch shots to be done, then off to the laboratory for processing and finally editing.”
Mastura’s film, directed by debutant Ishraq Shah, has actors like Kitu Gidwani, Arunoday Singh, Raghuvir Yadav and Yashpal Sharma. The film was shot on location in Mumbai and Udaipur.
“I am still not known in Bollywood, so I let the actors interviewed for the film’s promotion,” she averred. “I am just starting to build my name.”
Mastura is a descendant of Sultan Muhammad Dipatuan Kudarat of Maguindanao (1580-1671), a Moro warrior and one of the leaders and heroes of the wars against the Spanish army in Mindanao.

The list, available exclusively on the IMDb app for Android and iOS, tracks trending Indian entertainers and filmmakers each week, drawing on data from more than 200m monthly visits to the platform worldwide.
Further down the rankings, Raaka is keeping two of its biggest names in the spotlight. Deepika Padukone holds 11th position, with Allu Arjun close behind at 13th, as the film continues to find traction with audiences.
The list offers fans a weekly pulse on who is breaking through, who is holding steady, and who is fading. It is a barometer as unsparing as the box office itself.
