Parzania director mulls film on alcoholism in Gujarat
MUMBAI: Filmmaker Rahul Dholakia, known for his hard-hitting film Parzania, is mulling with the idea of making a film on the prohibition of alcohol in Gujarat.
The film would address a state-wide issue of prohibition of alcohol in the state and how it fuels rampant illegal selling and consumption of liquor.
Avers Dholakia in a statement, “ It is a question one needs to answer. The film won’t be an intellectual discussion on the subject but will be very entertaining. I plan to show the entire nexus of illegal liquor business in the state which is thriving because of prohibition. In India there are many layers to such issues. With the communal divide, the land mafia and other factors, everything is somehow related to alcohol.”
The film, inspired by the modus operandi of real life gangsters, bureaucrats, politicians and police officers spanning two decades, will be shot in the narrow by-lanes of Gujarat and the seashores of Maharashtra as it has a strong link to the Mumbai blasts.
