NYIFF unveils films to be screened this year

MUMBAI:The 11th New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF) has unveiled the line up of films that would be screened at the festival that is to take place from 4 to 8 May at Manhattan.


The festival, presented by the Indo-American Arts Council (IAAC), will open with the Habib Faisal-directed Do Dooni Chaar and will close with Mukta Arts’ Rituparno Ghosh directed film Nauka Dubi. Aparna Sen’s Iti Mrinalini (An Unfinished Letter) will screen as the centerpiece selection.


Other films that will be screened at the festival are The Bengali Detective (Documentary), Bhopali (Documentary), Daayen Ya Baayen, A Decent Arrangement, Geeta in Paradise, Holy Kitchens, The Legend of Rama, Made In India (Documentary), Meherjaan, Metropolis@Kolkata, Raakh, Semshook and Shala.


Sound Of Heaven: The Story of Bal Gandharva, Sthaniya Sambaad, T. D. Dasan Std. VI B, 10ml love, The Way Home, Yeh Saali Zindagi and You Don’t Belong (Documentary) will also be screened.


Along with, shorts from Whistling Woods International Film School directed by Rahul Prakash, Sonika Mody, Rohit Tiwari, Monalisa Banerji, Preeti Aneja and Arati Kadav will also be showcased.


Film personalities like Rishi Kapoor, Neetu Singh, Habib Faisal, Rituparno Ghosh and Aparna Sen are likely to grace the festival.
