Monsoon Wedding on Broadway

MUMBAI: The 2002 Mira Nair film, Monsoon Wedding is being made for Broadway.Inspired by the success of the film which was scripted by Sabrina Dhawan it is being now conceived as a musical for Broadway. Dhawan has been once again roped in to script it. As Mira Nair’s Shantaram has been delayed due to the on-going Hollywood writers strike she has begun work on Monsoon Wedding alongside another project.

Monsoon Wedding is an exuberant family drama set in Mira Nair‘s beloved Punjabi culture, where ancient tradition and dot-com modernity combine in unique and perfect harmony. It traces five intersecting stories.
