Hollywood studio signs Rohit Gupta for next film
MUMBAI: Hollywood-based movie production house, Phoenix Rising Media Group, has signed New York-based filmmaker Rohit Gupta to direct its upcoming film, My Big Fake Wedding.
“We are happy to have Rohit on board. His energy and commitment is contagious,” said Phoenix Rising Media Group CEO Noor Naghmi in a press statement.
The film, scheduled to go on the floors this October, will be shot on various locations including New York, Washington DC and India.
Gupta is one of the few directors to have achieved 57 international accolades and awards to date within a span of two years with his debut films – Another Day Another Life (a 5 minute film) and his latest Life! Camera Action (full length feature film of 89 minutes).
Another Day Another Life has won 33 international accolades and awards including being selected at the ‘Short Film Corner at Cannes 2009‘, bagging the ‘Best Short‘ and ‘Best Dramatic Impact‘ awards at the Best Shorts Competition 2011 (California).
Life! Camera Action has won 24 International accolades and awards in less than eight months since its completion. It has also been officially selected in competition to be screened at six international film festivals from August through November this year including International Film Festival Thailand, International Film Festival Ireland, Youth International Film Festival UK and International Film Festival Australasia.

MUMBAI: Bollywood’s popularity contest has a new weekly scorecard, and the numbers are telling. IMDb’s Popular Indian Celebrities list for this week places Shanaya Kapoor at number six, buoyed by buzz around her film Tu Yaa Main. Naila Grrewal slots in at seven on the back of the returning comedy series Maamla Legal Hai, while Rashmika Mandanna climbs to eighth, riding mounting anticipation for Cocktail 2.
The list, available exclusively on the IMDb app for Android and iOS, tracks trending Indian entertainers and filmmakers each week, drawing on data from more than 200m monthly visits to the platform worldwide.
Further down the rankings, Raaka is keeping two of its biggest names in the spotlight. Deepika Padukone holds 11th position, with Allu Arjun close behind at 13th, as the film continues to find traction with audiences.
The list offers fans a weekly pulse on who is breaking through, who is holding steady, and who is fading. It is a barometer as unsparing as the box office itself.
