Drishyam The Conclusion scores Ajay Devgn’s biggest opening day
Film earns Rs 95.10 crore worldwide as India net reaches Rs 66.75 crore
MUMBAI: Vijay Salgaonkar may be built around keeping secrets, but the box office has wasted no time spilling the numbers. Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam: The Conclusion has delivered the biggest opening day of his career, collecting an estimated Rs 95.10 crore gross worldwide on 2 October, according to Sacnilk figures.
The Abhishek Pathak-directed thriller came within touching distance of the Rs 100 crore mark on its first day but stopped short of the milestone. In India, the film recorded Rs 66.75 crore net from 15,759 shows, translating into a domestic gross of Rs 80.10 crore, while overseas markets contributed an estimated Rs 15 crore.
The worldwide tally of Rs 95.10 crore gives the third instalment a striking start, particularly when placed against the opening numbers of its predecessors. Drishyam, released in 2015, opened at Rs 5.85 crore net in India, while Drishyam 2 began its theatrical run in 2022 with Rs 15.38 crore net.
Drishyam: The Conclusion has therefore opened at more than four times the first-day India net of Drishyam 2. The latest film has also already moved close to the entire worldwide lifetime collection of the first film, which earned around Rs 110.40 crore globally.
The film’s theatrical momentum strengthened as the day progressed. Drishyam: The Conclusion recorded overall occupancy of 67.08 per cent for its Hindi 2D screenings, beginning at 46.38 per cent in the morning before climbing to 70.15 per cent in the afternoon.
Evening occupancy rose further to 75.31 per cent, while night shows recorded the day’s highest figure at 76.46 per cent. The progression suggests that the film’s audience build-up gathered pace through the day rather than peaking during the initial morning shows.
The opening also reshuffles Ajay Devgn’s personal box office record. Singham Again had previously held the actor’s biggest opening-day mark with around Rs 43.70 crore net in India, followed by Singham Returns at Rs 32.09 crore and Golmaal Again at Rs 30.14 crore.
With Rs 66.75 crore net on its first day, Drishyam: The Conclusion has moved well ahead of those earlier openings. Based on the figures provided, it is also the second-biggest Hindi opening of 2026 so far, behind Dhurandhar 2, which recorded Rs 226.6 crore worldwide on its first day, including Rs 145.55 crore net in India.
The film’s strong first day was preceded by a sizeable advance-booking build-up. Reported advance sales across eight show dates stood at Rs 79.71 crore when block seats were included, while the figure was Rs 67.79 crore after excluding those seats.
That advance demand set the stage for the franchise’s theatrical return. The latest film continues the story of Vijay Salgaonkar, whose carefully constructed efforts to protect his family from legal trouble once again come under pressure.
Set years after the events of the previous film, the new chapter brings a renewed investigation into Vijay’s life. Meera Deshmukh returns, while a new Crime Branch officer attempts to find a way through the defence that Vijay has built around his family.
The cast brings back several familiar faces while adding new players to the investigation. Alongside Devgn, the film features Tabu, Shriya Saran, Jaideep Ahlawat, Prakash Raj, Rajat Kapoor, Ishita Dutta, Mrunal Jadhav and Kamlesh Sawant.
Pathak has directed the film and co-written it with Aamil Keeyan Khan and Parveez Shaikh. The third chapter arrives with the added weight of being positioned as the conclusion to Vijay Salgaonkar’s story, giving the opening numbers significance beyond the franchise’s previous benchmarks.
The first Drishyam’s eventual worldwide collection of around Rs 110.40 crore included Rs 90.63 crore gross in India and Rs 19.77 crore overseas. With the third film already at Rs 95.10 crore worldwide after one day, the latest chapter has covered a substantial portion of that lifetime figure in a single outing.
The bigger question now shifts from how the film opened to how strongly it holds through the rest of the weekend and beyond. For now, though, the numbers are clear: Drishyam: The Conclusion has delivered Devgn’s biggest opening day, pushed the franchise to a new commercial high and left the Rs 100 crore worldwide mark within immediate striking distance.
