Devgn CineX appoints Ajay Agrawal as chief executive officer
Agrawal brings over two decades of experience across BFSI and consumer businesses
MUMBAI: The leadership screen at Devgn CineX has a new face, with Ajay Agrawal stepping into the chief executive officer role as the cinema exhibition company looks to build its expansion and customer experience strategy.
Agrawal brings more than two decades of leadership experience across banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI), infrastructure, fintech and manufacturing. His career has included roles and business initiatives associated with groups including ICICI, Tata, Reliance, Birla and Bharti.
His experience spans business transformation, growth initiatives, project development and consumer-facing operations. At Devgn CineX, he will oversee the company’s growth strategy, expansion roadmap, innovation agenda and customer experience initiatives.
The appointment comes as Devgn CineX positions itself around a premium cinema and entertainment experience, with the company looking to combine film exhibition with hospitality and wider lifestyle offerings.
Commenting on the appointment, Ajay Devgn, promoter, Devgn CineX, said the future of cinema would depend on creating experiences that audiences cannot replicate elsewhere. He added that Agrawal’s experience across strategy, execution and consumer expectations would support the company’s next phase of growth.
Agrawal said his focus would be on customer-centric innovation, operational excellence and developing Devgn CineX into a future-ready entertainment brand. He also pointed to the opportunity to use innovation and guest experience as differentiators as the company expands.
The new CEO’s mandate will cover both the business and the experience around it, with Devgn CineX planning to continue investing in expansion, innovation and customer-focused initiatives.
For Agrawal, the move marks a shift across sectors into cinema exhibition, bringing his experience in consumer-facing businesses and large-scale projects to a relatively new chapter in his leadership career.
