MUMBAI: The box office has found a new co-star. Cinépolis India and Panorama Studios are pooling their strengths to script a bigger theatrical run in North India, announcing a strategic distribution partnership for the Delhi and Uttar Pradesh circuit with plans to jointly release films and potentially expand the model to other regions.

Under the arrangement, films acquired or exclusively distributed by either company will now be jointly released across the Delhi and UP market, combining Cinépolis India’s exhibition footprint with Panorama Studios’ distribution expertise.

The partnership is already underway, with Dhamaal 4 and Baby Do Die Do among the first titles to be released under the collaboration. It will continue with Mahaprabhu Jagannath, which hit cinemas on July 17, followed by Hanuman Ansh, scheduled for release on July 31.

According to the companies, the alliance is designed to leverage Cinépolis India’s exhibitor network and regional market presence alongside Panorama Studios’ distribution capabilities, with the objective of widening theatrical reach and strengthening film performance in one of India’s key exhibition circuits.

The two companies are also evaluating the possibility of extending the partnership to additional territories, should the collaboration deliver the expected results.

The announcement comes at a time when distributors and exhibitors are increasingly exploring collaborative models to improve theatrical efficiency amid evolving audience preferences and an increasingly competitive entertainment landscape.

Panorama Studios chairman and managing director Kumar Mangat Pathak said the partnership brings together two organisations with strong market understanding and long-standing industry relationships. He added that combining resources and expertise would help unlock greater value for films, industry partners and the wider exhibition ecosystem while reinforcing the company’s commitment to strengthening the theatrical business.

Echoing the sentiment,Cinépolis India managing director Devang Sampat said the collaboration reflects a shared vision of maximising the theatrical potential of films. He noted that the combined strengths of both organisations would create a stronger distribution platform capable of delivering long-term value for producers, exhibitors and audiences alike.

Murlidhar Chhatwani, CEO, Distribution and Syndication at Panorama Studios, described the alliance as a strategic move towards building a more efficient distribution model. He said the partnership aims to deliver wider reach, stronger market visibility and improved outcomes for jointly distributed films, while leaving the door open for expansion into other territories in the future.

As competition for cinema audiences intensifies, partnerships such as this reflect a growing trend of closer collaboration between exhibitors and distributors. By aligning exhibition reach with distribution capabilities, Cinépolis India and Panorama Studios are betting that stronger regional networks can translate into better theatrical performance and a healthier box office ecosystem.
