MUMBAI: Yakult is giving its mango story a fresh squeeze. Yakult Danone India has rolled out a new television commercial featuring brand ambassador Taapsee Pannu to introduce the enhanced taste of Yakult Light Mango Flavour, as the company looks to strengthen its appeal among Indian consumers.

The campaign accompanies the launch of an updated version of the probiotic drink, which the company said was reformulated after incorporating consumer feedback. The TV commercial spotlights the drink’s richer mango flavour while continuing to emphasise its probiotic benefits.

Originally introduced in 2024, the Yakult Mango Flavour has now been refined, with the company claiming that more than 80 per cent of consumers in its research preferred the improved taste.

According to Yakult Danone India, Yakult Light Mango Flavour contains 6.5 billion live Lactobacillus paracasei Shirota (LcS) probiotic bacteria in every bottle, along with Vitamins D and E. The drink is also positioned as being low in calories and sugar, while containing no artificial flavours, preservatives or colouring.

Commenting on the launch, Eiji Amano, Managing Director, Yakult Danone India, said the updated recipe reflects the company’s focus on balancing scientific research with changing consumer preferences.

He noted that the original mango variant was developed specifically for Indian tastes and that the revised flavour profile has received a positive response from consumers.

“The improved taste profile has been well received, with over 80 per cent of consumers appreciating the enhanced flavour. The introduction of the new Yakult Light Mango variant in an enhanced taste, supported by our new commercial featuring Taapsee Pannu, reflects our continued focus on combining scientific excellence with consumer preferences,” Amano said.

Taku Otsuka, Director – Sales, PR & Marketing, said the campaign marks another step in making gut health more relatable for Indian audiences, adding that Taapsee Pannu’s association with the brand reinforces its messaging around healthy living and daily probiotic consumption.

Highlighting the science behind the product, Neerja Hajela, Chief Science Officer – Science & Regulatory Affairs, said every bottle contains 6.5 billion live LcS probiotic bacteria, supported by decades of scientific research into gut health and overall wellness.

The television commercial will be supported by a wider rollout across digital platforms and social media, as Yakult seeks to broaden awareness of probiotics while encouraging greater adoption of gut-health products among Indian consumers.
