GURUGRAM: As India builds more stadiums, one company is asking where the spectators will sit. With investments in sports infrastructure accelerating across the country, XtractPro Seating Pvt. Ltd. is positioning itself as a key player in the next phase of venue development through its telescopic and retractable seating systems.

The company is targeting schools, colleges, indoor arenas and multi-purpose auditoriums, arguing that flexibility, rather than fixed infrastructure, will define the future of India’s sporting ecosystem.

The push comes as governments continue to invest in new sports facilities, with cricket stadiums, Khelo India centres and multi-sport complexes being developed across several states. Educational institutions are also increasingly incorporating sports infrastructure into their campuses, creating demand for venues that can serve multiple purposes.

Unlike conventional fixed seating, XtractPro’s retractable systems allow venues to be reconfigured depending on the event. Seating can be extended during sporting competitions or cultural programmes and folded away to create open floor space for exhibitions, convocations, assemblies or community events.

The company says this approach enables institutions to maximise the utilisation of existing infrastructure instead of constructing separate facilities for different activities.

The company believes the biggest challenge facing institutional venues is not the availability of space but the efficient use of it. Fixed seating often limits a venue to a single function, while retractable systems allow the same hall to host sporting events, school functions, performances and public gatherings throughout the year.

For schools and colleges, this could mean using the same auditorium for annual day celebrations, indoor sports tournaments, examinations and graduation ceremonies without major structural changes.

As India works towards strengthening its sports ecosystem and increasing participation at both grassroots and elite levels, venue operators are increasingly looking for infrastructure that can support multiple activities while keeping capital expenditure under control.

The company is also betting that demand for locally manufactured sports infrastructure will continue to grow as institutions seek alternatives to imported solutions that can be customised for Indian conditions.

With governments and educational institutions investing heavily in new facilities, the focus is gradually shifting from simply creating infrastructure to ensuring it delivers greater long-term value. For XtractPro, that means turning underutilised halls into adaptable venues capable of supporting India’s growing sporting and community ambitions.
