WPP Media elevates Rajiv Rajagopal to senior vice president – advanced TV
Long-time executive to lead India strategy as Connected TV business enters next phase
Bengaluru: WPP Media has promoted Rajiv Rajagopal to senior vice president, Advanced TV, expanding his mandate to lead the company’s Advanced TV strategy in India as it looks to strengthen its Connected TV (CTV) and addressable television business.
Rajagopal announced the appointment in a LinkedIn post, describing the role as an opportunity to establish Advanced TV as a core pillar of WPP Media’s media solutions business.
In his new position, he will be responsible for defining and executing the company’s Advanced TV strategy in India, advancing audience planning, addressability, measurement and accountability standards for Connected TV, developing category-defining solutions with broadcasters, streaming platforms and advertisers, and driving research-led thought leadership.
Rajagopal has spent more than a decade with WPP Media and its predecessor, GroupM, playing a central role in building the company’s Advanced TV practice from the ground up.
Before his promotion, he served as business head, Advanced TV, where he led strategy, business operations and product development for the company’s Connected TV advertising vertical. Earlier, as head of client development for Finecast, now part of WPP Media Advanced TV, he helped establish the business in India, developed its go-to-market strategy and oversaw its rapid expansion.
During that period, he led the launch of India’s first hyperlocal addressable TV solution, built one of the country’s earliest Connected TV marketplaces combining OTT platforms and smart TV inventory, and co-authored industry research on the changing television landscape.
His earlier roles at WPP Media included region head for South India, business director and business group head, overseeing television, digital and proprietary media businesses while managing large-scale client portfolios.
Prior to joining WPP Media, Rajagopal worked with Star India, Red FM and Radio Mirchi, building experience across television, radio and media sales.
The appointment comes as Connected TV continues to gain traction among advertisers, with media agencies increasingly investing in data-driven, measurable television advertising. Rajagopal’s expanded role signals WPP Media’s intent to deepen its focus on Advanced TV as brands shift budgets towards digital and addressable television solutions.
