Wedotv enters India with Samsung TV Plus, launches four FAST channels
NOIDA: Streaming is getting a new lane in India. Swiss-based FAST platform wedotv has entered the Indian market through its first distribution partnership with Samsung TV Plus, bringing four free ad-supported television (FAST) channels to Samsung Smart TV users across the country.
The deal marks wedotv’s debut in India since beginning its international expansion in 2023 and strengthens its presence in one of the world’s fastest-growing connected TV markets.
The initial offering includes wedotv Big Stories, developed in partnership with BIG Media, wedotv Cars, created with Motorvision, alongside wedotv Movies and wedotv Sports. Together, the channels offer viewers a mix of factual entertainment, automotive programming, films and sports content.
wedotv, SVP of global business development, Iza Piotrowska said the India launch represents an important milestone in the company’s international expansion strategy and reflects its continued investment in high-growth markets. She added that the partnership enables wedotv to bring curated international content to India’s rapidly evolving streaming audience.
For Samsung TV Plus, the partnership expands its catalogue of international FAST channels as competition intensifies in the connected TV space.
Samsung TV Plus India, general manager, head of business development, Kunal Mehta said India remains a key growth market for the platform and that adding wedotv’s portfolio broadens the range of premium international channels available to viewers while reinforcing its commitment to delivering high-quality free streaming content.
Samsung TV Plus currently serves more than 100 million monthly active users globally. The ad-supported streaming service comes pre-installed on Samsung Smart TVs and select Samsung devices, giving users free access to live television channels without requiring a subscription.
With the India rollout, wedotv’s FAST channels are now available on Samsung TV Plus across 13 territories, including recent launches in the Middle East and North Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
Owned by Swiss media company Video Solutions AG, wedotv operates a portfolio of thematic FAST channels and on-demand services distributed through its own apps and websites, as well as partner platforms including Samsung TV Plus, LG Channels, VIDAA, MagentaTV, Vodafone and other IPTV and cable operators.
The India launch adds another market to wedotv’s growing international footprint as FAST services continue to gain traction among viewers seeking free, ad-supported alternatives to subscription streaming platforms
