Vikas Gupta named regional vice president, east region, at Daikin India
The 18-year company veteran moves from Ahmedabad, where he ran branch operations, to lead a geographically wide territory from Kolkata
AHMEDABAD: Eighteen years at one company, and now a whole region to run. Vikas Gupta has taken charge as regional vice president, east region, at Daikin Airconditioning India Pvt. Ltd., from October 2026, with his LinkedIn profile placing the new role in Kolkata.
It is a step up from the Ahmedabad branch. Gupta joined Daikin in September 2008 and spent the next 18 years and two months as general manager and branch operations head in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Now he takes on what he calls a geographically wide territory.
In his announcement, Gupta thanked Daikin’s top management for the trust and confidence they have shown in him and for the opportunity. He also thanked the Ahmedabad branch team for their passion, dedication, perseverance and unconditional support during his tenure. Looking ahead, he said he is keen to work cohesively with the east region team “to reach greater heights together”.
The move comes at a good time for the brand. In a post on LinkedIn, Daikin said it has been featured in the 2026 Fortune Global 500 list, which it called an important achievement in its journey.
Before Daikin, Gupta built his career in the air conditioning and sales trade. He was sales manager at ETA General Pvt Ltd from January to September 2008, and area sales manager at Voltas Limited from April 2005 to December 2007. He began as an engineer at Blue Star Limited, where he spent three years and ten months, from July 2001 to April 2005. His profile also lists UBS, Panjab University, as his education.
Three things stand out. First, the loyalty. Almost 18 and a half years at one company is rare in sales leadership, and the promotion suggests Daikin values people who know its branches, dealers and customers inside out. Gupta’s years running branch operations in Ahmedabad give him a close view of how the business works on the ground.
Second, the leap in scale. Running a single branch is a different job from running a region. The east region is, in Gupta’s own words, a geographically wide territory, so the job will call for building a team across many markets and keeping them pulling in the same direction. His thanks to the Ahmedabad team and his plan to work cohesively with the east region team suggest he knows that.
Third, the route. Gupta began as an engineer at Blue Star, moved into sales at Voltas and ETA General, and then joined Daikin and rose through operations. A leader who has worked on the technical side, in sales and in branch management sees the business from several angles, which is useful when running a regional team with targets to meet.
