V-Guard Q1 profit rises 76 per cent as revenue tops Rs 1,800 crore
Consumer durables and electricals help lift sales 24 per cent in April-June
MUMBAI: V-Guard has switched on FY27 with plenty of spark. The consumer electricals and appliances maker reported a sharp 76.4 per cent year-on-year jump in consolidated net profit for the April-June quarter, driven by robust revenue growth across its key businesses and improved operating performance.
Consolidated net profit rose to Rs 130.25 crore in the first quarter from Rs 73.85 crore a year earlier, while revenue from operations increased 23.5 per cent to Rs 1,810.65 crore, compared with Rs 1,466.08 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.
Including other income, total income climbed to Rs 1,822.33 crore, up from Rs 1,471.33 crore a year ago.
The company’s profit before tax surged to Rs 171.87 crore from Rs 98.26 crore, reflecting stronger sales, better operating leverage and a favourable business mix. Basic earnings per share rose to Rs 2.97 from Rs 1.69 in the year-ago quarter.
Among business segments, Electricals remained the largest contributor, generating Rs 670.12 crore in revenue, followed closely by Electronics, which reported Rs 658.46 crore. The Consumer Durables business contributed Rs 416.71 crore, while Sunflame, the kitchen appliances brand acquired by the company, added Rs 65.69 crore.
The Electronics segment delivered the strongest profitability, with segment profit rising to Rs 130.70 crore from Rs 104.87 crore a year earlier. Electricals contributed Rs 70.64 crore, while the Consumer Durables segment returned to profitability, reporting Rs 14.92 crore in segment profit against a loss of Rs 7.17 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.
Total expenses increased to Rs 1,650.46 crore from Rs 1,373.07 crore, reflecting higher raw material consumption and business expansion. Raw material costs rose to Rs 780.37 crore, while employee benefit expenses increased to Rs 165.21 crore.
The company’s balance sheet also strengthened during the quarter, with total assets rising to Rs 4,142.54 crore from Rs 3,337.83 crore a year earlier, while total liabilities stood at Rs 1,632.63 crore, compared with Rs 1,155.63 crore.
V-Guard’s consolidated results include the performance of its wholly owned subsidiaries V-Guard Consumer Products Ltd, Guts Electro-Mech Ltd and Sunflame Enterprises Pvt Ltd, along with its associate Gegadyne Energy Labs Pvt Ltd.
The strong quarterly performance suggests consumer demand for electrical and home appliance products remained resilient despite a challenging operating environment. With growth visible across multiple business verticals, V-Guard appears to have entered FY27 on a firm footing as it looks to build on the momentum through the rest of the financial year.
