TikTok dismisses entire India team

Mumbai: As per reports, Chinese short video app TikTok laid off its entire Indian team earlier this week. As part of this layoff, approximately 40 people were told to relinquish their duties; they would be given up to nine months of severance pay.

Apparently, the employees of the ByteDance-owned app were told that 28 February would be their last day and were asked to look out for other opportunities.

In June 2020, the government banned TikTok in the country; several workers were mostly working on the Dubai and Brazil markets. The app had around 200 million users in India.

Very recently, Google and Disney, too, had job cuts in their organisation, in order to reduce costs.
