TCS renews Jaguar TCS Racing partnership as official AI partner
Multi-year deal expands AI, digital twin and simulation work into Formula E’s GEN4 era
MUMBAI: TCS is shifting its technology into top gear, extending its title partnership with Jaguar TCS Racing and stepping up as the team’s official AI partner as Formula E enters its next generation. The multi-year renewal extends a five-year relationship between Tata Consultancy Services and Jaguar TCS Racing, taking their collaboration beyond branding and into AI, engineering, data and digital technology. The expanded partnership will explore how AI can improve racing operations and engineering while generating insights for the development of future Jaguar electric vehicles.
The timing comes after Jaguar TCS Racing closed the 2025-26 ABB FIA Formula E season by winning the Teams’ World Championship, its second Teams’ title in three seasons. The team recorded four victories and 10 podiums during the campaign.
Under the renewed partnership, TCS will formally serve as the team’s official AI partner, giving it a larger role in applying artificial intelligence and advanced technologies to motorsport.
TCS Global Chief Marketing Officer Abhinav Kumar said the renewal would allow the two organisations to use AI and advanced technologies to explore new performance opportunities and support the team’s pursuit of further podiums and championship wins.
For Jaguar, the relationship also feeds into its wider electric vehicle technology ambitions. Chris Thorp, chairman of JLR Motorsport, said the collaboration had helped the team push the boundaries of performance, efficiency and innovation, while continuing to support the development of all-electric motorsport and future Jaguar vehicles.
Over the past five years, TCS and Jaguar TCS Racing have used cloud technology and digital twins to improve race performance and transfer learnings between the racetrack and road-car development.
A key part of that work is TCS’s Virtual Vehicle Validation Model, or V3M. It allows Jaguar TCS Racing engineers to validate software changes and run continuous simulations, helping them make decisions within the tight timeframes of Formula E.
The AI expansion will take that relationship further, with the companies exploring applications across racing operations and engineering. The aim is to identify efficiencies and generate insights that can also contribute to the development of future Jaguar electric vehicles.
Jaguar TCS Racing has recorded more than 20 race victories and 60 podium finishes since Jaguar entered Formula E in 2016. The team won the Teams’ World Championship and Manufacturers’ Trophy in 2024 before repeating its Teams’ Championship success in 2026.
During the GEN3 Evo era, the Jaguar I-TYPE 7 delivered 10 race wins across the 2025 and 2026 seasons, more than any other team during that period.
The team will now enter the GEN4 era, which begins in 2026 and runs through Seasons 13 to 16. Jaguar designs its own Formula E powertrain, including the motor generator unit, transmission, inverter and rear suspension, and will also supply its powertrain to other teams during the GEN4 era.
The technology developed through Formula E is intended to help improve the performance and range of future JLR electric vehicles, reinforcing the championship’s role as a testing ground for software, data, simulation and electric powertrain technology.
For TCS, that creates a technology showcase where tools developed in the high-pressure world of motorsport can be tested and connected to wider commercial applications. The partnership therefore stretches from race-day performance to the broader idea of taking technology from ‘race to road’.
The collaboration also includes education and sustainability initiatives. Through TCS’s Ignite My Future programme, nearly 30,000 students across 16 countries have explored real-world applications of racing data, design and strategy since 2023. Hundreds more have taken part in trackside experiences with TCS and Jaguar TCS Racing at Formula E events.
The partnership also strengthens TCS’s positioning in the UK, where it has operated for 50 years and works with more than 200 of the country’s top brands. Earlier this year, TCS announced plans to create 5,000 new jobs across the UK over the next three years.
With Jaguar TCS Racing entering GEN4 as reigning Teams’ World Champions, the renewed partnership gives TCS a larger role in the team’s next chapter putting AI, simulation and data at the heart of the push to make electric racing technology work harder on both the track and the road.
