MUMBAI: Tata Technologies has put its engineering expertise to work on the balance sheet, reporting higher consolidated revenue and profit for the September quarter, even as its standalone performance tells a more subdued story. The company’s consolidated results for the quarter ended 30 September 2026 show revenue from operations of Rs 1,698.80 crore, compared with Rs 1,664.63 crore in the previous quarter and Rs 1,323.33 crore in the year-ago quarter.

Consolidated profit before tax stood at Rs 241.72 crore, against Rs 251.70 crore in the June quarter and Rs 225.87 crore in the September quarter of FY26. Profit after tax for the September quarter was Rs 130.75 crore, compared with Rs 133.30 crore a year earlier. The results were approved by the board on 14 October 2026.

Services revenue drives growth

Tata Technologies’ consolidated revenue for the first half of FY27 reached Rs 3,363.43 crore, up from Rs 2,567.62 crore in the corresponding period last year. Segment revenue from services rose to Rs 2,652.57 crore from Rs 1,976.47 crore, while technology solutions revenue increased to Rs 710.86 crore from Rs 591.15 crore.

For the half-year, consolidated profit before tax was Rs 493.42 crore, compared with Rs 454.42 crore a year earlier. The company reported half-year profit after tax attributable to shareholders of Rs 352.19 crore, against Rs 335.78 crore in the corresponding period last year.

Standalone performance presents a mixed picture

On a standalone basis, revenue from operations for the September quarter was Rs 881.92 crore, up from Rs 796.46 crore in the year-ago quarter. Total income rose to Rs 1,029.56 crore from Rs 834.80 crore.

Standalone profit after tax, however, declined to Rs 219.06 crore from Rs 133.30 crore in the year-ago quarter?

Labour codes and acquisition accounting remain in focus

The company’s disclosures also detail the impact of India’s new labour codes and acquisition-related accounting. The consolidated results include the group’s adjustment of provisional acquisition accounting for Es-Tec GmbH, following the receipt of additional information. The changes reduced earn-out consideration by Rs 28.98 crore, the fair value of intangible assets by Rs 10.35 crore and goodwill by Rs 18.63 crore. The adjustments were applied retrospectively from the acquisition date.

The group’s consolidated results include 19 wholly owned subsidiaries and one associate as at 30 September 2026. Statutory auditor BSR & Co. LLP conducted a limited review and issued an unmodified conclusion on the consolidated results.

Tata Technologies’ latest numbers show growth in consolidated revenue and first-half profit, while the quarter-on-quarter movement in profit and the difference between consolidated and standalone results underline the importance of looking beyond the headline figures.
