MUMBAI: Some work comes with a salary slip; some keeps the whole house running. Tata Tea Chakra Gold is putting the spotlight on the latter with its latest campaign, ‘Ghanam Soch’, which challenges the conventional idea that work can be measured only by a monthly pay cheque.

The campaign, aimed at consumers in Andhra Pradesh, focuses on the often-unseen contribution of homemakers and asks families to rethink how they define work, value and partnership at home.

The campaign unfolds around an everyday financial moment: a couple applies for a home loan and the banker asks how many members of the household are working. The husband answers, “Two”, but when the banker asks for salary slips, only his is produced.

What follows turns the seemingly straightforward question into a broader conversation about what counts as work. While the wife does not earn a monthly salary, her role in running the household makes her a working member of the family.

The emotional turning point comes when the mother-in-law points out that a homemaker’s contribution cannot simply be reduced to what appears on a salary slip. The husband then acknowledges his wife as an equal partner in building their home, reinforcing the campaign’s central thought: one person may earn for the family, but it takes two to build a home.

Through Ghanam Soch, Tata Tea Chakra Gold extends its long-standing association with the idea of strength beyond its product proposition. The campaign connects the brand’s “strong tea” positioning with a broader idea of strong thinking and recognition of the everyday strength of women.

Sharat Verma, President – Packaged Beverages and Organic India, Tata Consumer Products, said Andhra Pradesh remains an important market for Tata Tea Chakra Gold and that Ghanam Soch builds on the brand’s belief that “Ghanam Tea inspires Ghanam Soch”.

The campaign seeks to spark conversations around the value of homemakers whose work may not come with a salary, but remains central to keeping families and homes functioning.

In doing so, Tata Tea Chakra Gold turns a routine home-loan question into a bigger question about who really gets counted as ‘working’ and whether a salary slip should be the only measure of contribution.
