LONDON: Synamedia is changing channels at the top. The video software company has appointed Tzvi Gerstl as its new chief executive officer, with long-serving CEO Paul Segre moving into the role of executive chairman.

The leadership transition comes as Synamedia enters a new phase following the divestiture of its Video Network business, a move the company says sharpens its strategic focus and streamlines operations around helping operators and media companies grow audiences and monetise video services.

Gerstl has been closely involved in shaping the company’s strategy and product direction, leading initiatives aimed at improving innovation, operational execution and customer outcomes. Under his leadership, Synamedia secured new customer wins with BFBS, MTN, Mileto, Partner Communications and YES, while also launching products including GO Shorts and the award-winning Senza Ignite.

Announcing the appointment, Synamedia executive chairman Paul Segre said, “We have spent the last several years transforming Synamedia, strengthening our portfolio and positioning the company around a clear strategy focused on our customers and the future of video. With the simplification of our business model and strong momentum across the company, now is the right time to transition leadership to the person best positioned to accelerate our growth.”

He added, “Tzvi understands our customers because he spends time with them, our technology because he’s helped shape it, and our business because he has been instrumental in its success. The Board and I are confident there is no better person to lead Synamedia into its next chapter.”

Looking ahead, Tzvi Gerstl said, “The media industry is navigating profound change as audiences increasingly expect video experiences that are personalised, mobile and available everywhere. At the same time, operators and media companies need to grow audiences, create new revenue streams and reduce complexity. That is exactly where Synamedia can make a real difference.”

He added that the company’s integrated capabilities across streaming, advertising, monetisation, security and audience engagement position it to help customers simplify operations while unlocking new growth opportunities.

With its leadership transition complete and its business streamlined following the Video Network divestiture, Synamedia is betting that a sharper strategic focus and continued product innovation will strengthen its position in the rapidly evolving global video technology market.
