Sushilkumar Agrawal elected Vice President of Producers Guild of India

MUMBAI: The producers’ chair has a new seat at the table, with Ultra Media & Entertainment Group CEO Sushilkumar Agrawal elected Vice President of the Producers Guild of India at its 72nd Annual General Meeting in Mumbai.

Shibasish Sarkar was unanimously re-elected President of the Guild, while Hiren Gada was also elected Vice President. Aashish Singh, Ankur Garg, Madhu Bhojwani and Manish Goswami were re-elected as Vice Presidents for the 2026–27 term.

Agrawal has been a Council Member of the Producers Guild for 20 years. A first-generation entrepreneur, he began his business journey in 1982 by acquiring rights to classic, old and new films and was instrumental in bringing VHS and VCD technology to India.

He now heads Ultra Media & Entertainment Group, which operates across content production, acquisition, distribution and syndication of Indian and international content. The company has a library spanning more than 3,500 films, 18,000 television episodes and 25,000 film and non-film songs.

Ultra has also expanded into digital entertainment through OTT platforms including Ultra Play, Ultra Jhakaas and Ultra Gaane, offering films, regional content and music to audiences in India and overseas.

Agrawal is currently focused on regional cinema, with film production initiatives across Marathi, Gujarati and Malayalam, alongside music in multiple languages. He also serves as a Director of The Indian Performing Right Society Ltd (IPRS) and is a Committee Member and former President of the Entertainment Content Owners Association of India.

Commenting on his election, Agrawal said the appointment was an honour and thanked Guild members for their trust and support. He said he looked forward to working with his colleagues on challenges facing the industry and contributing to its continued growth.

The Guild represents producers across film, television and digital content and works with government and industry stakeholders on areas including regulation and policy, copyright protection, taxation and ease of filming.

For the 2026–27 term, Ashim Samanta and Fazila Allana have been re-elected as Treasurers.

The Council of Management also includes Aamir Khan, Anil Kapoor, Ashutosh Gowariker, Hrithik Roshan, Pallab Bhattacharya, Rajan Shahi, Rajkumar Hirani, Ritesh Sidhwani, Sharad Patel, Siddharth Roy Kapur, Utpal Acharya, Vishesh Bhatt and Zoya Akhtar.

The Guild’s Permanent Members are Amit Khanna, Kiran V. Shantaram, Manmohan Shetty, Mukesh Bhatt and Randhir Kapoor. Kamalkumar Barjatya and Ramesh Sippy continue as Members Emeritus.

With its new council in place, the Guild enters the 2026–27 term with producers from cinema, television and digital entertainment represented across its leadership and wider management body.
