Sony marks 10 years of 1000X series with premium headphones, earbuds launch
1000X THE COLLEXION and WF-1000XM6 bring AI features, better noise cancellation
Mumbai: Sony India has expanded its premium personal audio portfolio with the launch of the 1000X THE COLLEXION headphones and WF-1000XM6 true wireless earbuds, celebrating a decade of its flagship 1000X noise-cancelling series.
The new products, available from August 7, blend premium design with artificial intelligence-powered features, enhanced noise cancellation and studio-grade audio, as Sony looks to strengthen its position in the premium audio segment.
The flagship 1000X THE COLLEXION, marketed under the WH-1000XX model name, features a refined metal-and-leather design, wider headband, larger ear cushions and a lightweight build aimed at long listening sessions. It will be available in Black and Platinum at Rs 59,990.
Under the hood, the headphones are powered by Sony’s HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN3 and Integrated Processor V3, paired with a bespoke driver unit developed under the company’s “For the Music” initiative. The device supports Hi-Res Audio, Hi-Res Wireless, 360 Reality Audio, DSEE Ultimate and a 10-band equaliser with dedicated gaming and background music modes.
Sony has also upgraded its noise cancellation system with 12 microphones, Multi Noise Sensor technology and an Adaptive Noise Cancelling Optimiser that automatically adjusts performance based on the user’s surroundings and wearing conditions. Wind Noise Reduction technology has also been added to improve outdoor listening.
For calls, the headphones use AI-powered voice isolation, beamforming microphones and Precise Voice Pickup Technology to reduce background noise. Users can mute or unmute calls directly from the headset without accessing their smartphone.
The headphones also introduce several smart features, including Google Gemini integration, Adaptive Sound Control, Scene-based Listening, Speak-to-Chat, head gesture controls, wearing detection and seamless multi-device connectivity through the Sony Sound Connect app.
Sony has also unveiled the WF-1000XM6, the latest addition to its premium true wireless range, priced at Rs 29,990. Available in Black, Platinum and Silver, the earbuds promise a 25 per cent improvement in noise cancellation over the previous WF-1000XM5.
Powered by Sony’s HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN3e, the earbuds feature an upgraded DAC and amplifier to deliver richer audio with greater clarity and detail. The Auto Noise Cancelling Optimiser and Auto Ambient Sound mode dynamically adapt to surrounding environments, balancing music playback with external sounds when needed.
Sony has redesigned the earbuds with a more ergonomic fit to improve comfort and passive noise isolation during extended use.
Call quality has also received an upgrade through AI-driven voice pickup technology, directional microphones and a bone conduction sensor that captures the user’s voice while suppressing ambient noise.
Like the flagship headphones, the WF-1000XM6 supports Google Gemini, Scene-Based Listening, Speak-to-Chat and head gesture controls. The earbuds also carry an IP-rated sweat- and splash-resistant design, support Qi wireless charging and offer up to 24 hours of battery life with the charging case. A five-minute quick charge provides up to 50 minutes of playback.
Both products will go on sale from August 7 through Amazon, Flipkart, Sony Center stores, ShopAtSC.com and select Croma and Reliance Digital outlets. With the launches, Sony is betting that premium design, AI-powered convenience and industry-leading noise cancellation will keep the 1000X series at the forefront of the high-end personal audio market.
