Sky Gold added to MSCI India Domestic Small Cap Index
Jewellery maker turns cash-flow positive as it strengthens governance and scales
MUMBAI: Sky Gold is adding a little more shine to its market credentials. Jewellery manufacturer Sky Gold & Diamonds Ltd has been included in the MSCI India Domestic Small Cap Index, marking a new milestone for the company as it seeks to strengthen its position among India’s listed small-cap companies.
The inclusion comes alongside a key operational shift for Sky Gold, with the company turning operating cash flow positive during the current quarter. The move marks a step towards tighter working capital management as the jewellery maker looks to balance expansion with profitability and cash generation.
Beyond the numbers, Sky Gold is also working on its organisational framework. The company said it is strengthening its leadership structure and financial and governance processes, including engagement with a large global accounting firm.
Its business strategy remains centred on lightweight and value-added jewellery, while the company continues to expand its customer base and presence across organised jewellery retail. Its asset-light manufacturing model is also being used to scale capacity while keeping capital requirements in check.
The MSCI inclusion is expected to increase the company’s visibility among institutional investors, even as Sky Gold focuses on building what it calls ‘Sky Gold 3.0’ the next phase of its growth strategy.
Mangesh Chauhan, Managing Director, Sky Gold and Diamonds Ltd, said the inclusion represented recognition of the company’s journey from building scale to developing a more disciplined and institution-ready organisation.
He added that the company’s focus would be on profitable growth, cash conversion, efficient capital deployment and stronger governance systems as it prepares to operate at a larger scale.
For Sky Gold, therefore, the MSCI addition is more than an index entry. It arrives at a point when the company is attempting to make its growth story less about glitter and more about the financial discipline behind it.
