MUMBAI: Forty years is a long time to keep a sandwich fresh, but Sandwizzaa is giving its Mumbai legacy a new, sourdough twist.

The vegetarian food brand has launched its Signature Series, a café-only collection of three sourdough sandwiches, as it marks 40 years of operations. The new range brings a more contemporary café format to a brand better known for its Mumbai-style toasted, grilled and plain sandwiches.

The launch comes alongside the opening of two new outlets, one in Panch Pakhadi, Thane, and another in Sector 46-A, Seawoods, Navi Mumbai, expanding Sandwizzaa’s footprint across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

The Signature Series has been created exclusively for Sandwizzaa cafés, targeting customers looking for more experimental flavours and a slower, sit-down dining experience.

The three sandwiches are made with freshly baked sourdough and paired with house-made aiolis.

Pank’s Pesto combines sautéed vegetables, crisp lettuce, cheddar cheese and fresh pesto, served with a basil-garlic aioli.

SDL Thecha takes a distinctly Indian route, pairing cottage cheese with Sandwizzaa’s house-made spicy thecha, garlic and nuts, along with onions and a green herb aioli.

AJ’s Caramelized Onion brings together sautéed vegetables, slow-caramelised onions, a creamy cheese sauce and French balsamic flavours, finished with a green herb aioli.

The new menu is designed to build on Sandwizzaa’s vegetarian identity while moving beyond its traditional fast-food format. Since 1986, the brand has built its following around fresh sandwiches, green chutneys and in-house spice masalas, becoming a familiar part of Mumbai’s quick-service food culture.

Pankaj Sharma, director, Sandwizzaa, said the Signature Series was created to introduce new flavours without moving away from the qualities that have defined the brand.

The café format, he added, reflects how customers have increasingly used Sandwizzaa outlets as places to sit, spend time and enjoy their meals rather than simply grab a quick bite.

The timing is deliberate. Sandwizzaa’s 40th year is being used to push both menu innovation and geographical expansion, with the new Thane and Navi Mumbai outlets adding to its presence beyond its traditional Mumbai base.

The brand has also picked up industry recognition during its milestone year. It secured number-one positions in the Best Subs & Sandwiches, Local Gems and Bolt categories at the Swiggy Restaurant Awards 2026. It also received Best Customer Experience and QSR recognition at the FCI Food Connoisseurs India Awards 2026.

The Signature Series is now available exclusively at participating Sandwizzaa cafés, giving the four-decade-old sandwich brand a new way to keep its menu moving with the times.
