Samsung India profit falls 36 per cent to Rs 7,228 crore in FY26
Revenue rises 1.2 per cent to Rs 1.11 lakh crore as mobiles remain the biggest business
MUMBAI: Samsung’s numbers have hit a softer note, with its India business reporting a 36 per cent drop in consolidated profit for FY26 even as revenue continued to edge upwards.
Samsung India Electronics reported consolidated profit of Rs 7,228.10 crore for the financial year ended March 31, 2026, down from Rs 11,287.50 crore in FY25, according to a Registrar of Companies (RoC) filing. Financial data from the filing was accessed through business intelligence platform Tofler.
Revenue from operations increased 1.2 per cent to Rs 1,11,183.40 crore in FY26 from Rs 1,09,865 crore in FY25. Total consolidated income, including other income, stood at Rs 1,14,738.60 crore during the year.
While the top line managed to stay in growth territory, Samsung’s biggest reported revenue stream, Handheld Phones (HHP), covering mobile phones and accessories slipped 1.35 per cent to Rs 81,472.20 crore from Rs 82,595 crore.
The softer handset performance was partly offset by growth across other consumer electronics categories. Home Appliances, covering refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners and microwave ovens, grew 3.52 per cent to Rs 12,240.60 crore from Rs 11,823.30 crore.
Audio-Visual products, including televisions and soundbars, performed more strongly, with revenue rising 8.5 per cent to Rs 8,055.90 crore from Rs 7,427 crore. Software Development and Export operations also grew 6.85 per cent to Rs 2,430.10 crore.
Samsung’s domestic business gained ground during the year, with India revenue rising 9.34 per cent to Rs 65,873.30 crore from Rs 60,243.50 crore in FY25. Exports, however, moved in the opposite direction, declining 5.64 per cent to Rs 41,068.60 crore from Rs 43,527.80 crore.
On the cost side, total consolidated expenses increased 3.54 per cent to around Rs 1.04 lakh crore. Advertising and promotional expenditure, meanwhile, fell 11.9 per cent to Rs 3,850.50 crore from Rs 4,370.70 crore.
Samsung India’s payment of ‘cost royalty’ to its South Korean parent increased 7.2 per cent to Rs 3,474 crore from Rs 3,240.50 crore. The payment relates to technical know-how, technology and manufacturing assistance provided by the parent for products made in India, including smartphones, televisions, refrigerators, washing machines and air conditioners.
The financial year also saw Samsung continue to push its Galaxy ecosystem and AI-led consumer electronics portfolio. Its India #WithGalaxy photography campaign for the Galaxy S series generated 31,331 submissions between December 30, 2025 and January 26, 2026 and, according to Samsung, set two Guinness World Records.
The company has also maintained its focus on AI across smartphones and home appliances, with its 2026 marketing activity including the Galaxy S26 series and the latest Bespoke AI appliance range.
In September 2026, Samsung launched the latest edition of Samsung Innovation Campus in Karnataka, targeting 2,000 young people for AI skills training during the year. The wider 2026 programme aims to train 20,000 young people across 10 states.
Samsung continues to operate across mobile phones, tablets, televisions, home appliances and personal computing, with India also serving as a manufacturing and export base. Its research and development operations include facilities in Bengaluru, Noida and Delhi-NCR.
The company remains the only player in India’s appliance and consumer electronics sector with annual turnover above Rs 1 lakh crore, even as its FY26 results show a mixed picture, domestic revenue and several consumer electronics categories grew, while handset revenue, exports and overall profit moved lower.
