MUMBAI: Money, markets and reputations. Sahban Kohari has spent his career in all three, and now he is running a desk.

The Mumbai-based communications professional has started a new position as group head at Concept PR India Ltd, a full-time, on-site role that began in October 2026. “I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as group head,” he said. His brief is clear: he looks after clients in the BFSI and renewable energy space.

It is a sector pairing with a nice logic. Banks, insurers and financial firms live and die on trust, while renewable energy is an industry where the story is changing by the quarter. Anyone who can ideate in both is worth having. Kohari describes his experience as spanning public relations, crisis management and new business pitching, a mix that suits an agency hungry for clients and credibility alike.

His most recent stint was at Eminence, where he spent five years and two months, from September 2021 to October 2026, as pr and corporate reputation specialist. There he looked after the PR mandate for clients in mutual fund, wealth advisory, family office, ESG, rating and manufacturing. The profile credits him with strong domain knowledge and ideating skills to plan and execute PR campaigns, and with expertise in connecting domain knowledge with contemporary industry issues to ideate stories. That last skill is the one clients pay for. Plenty of firms have news. Few know how to turn it into a story.

The route to the top shows a steady climb through finance and corporate communications:

corporate communications manager at Arvind Limited (June 2015 to September 2016), telling the story of Arvind to the world and positioning it as a player leading the new sunrise sector of textiles and apparel brands in India associate director at IPAN Hill+Knowlton Strategies (June 2014 to June 2015), handling PR for insurance clients and joining new business development initiatives public relations manager at Adfactors PR (August 2013 to April 2014), handling PR for clients in mutual fund and life insurance senior consultant at Ketchum Sampark (December 2010 to March 2013), practising the finance beat across wealth management, portfolio management, consumer finance, real estate private equity, insurance and employee benefits
senior account executive at Vaishnavi Corp. Communications (July 2007 to December 2010), practising the corporate beat in the telecom sector

The client list is worth a second glance. At Ketchum Sampark, Kohari handled ASK Group, Bajaj Finance and Bajaj Finserv, and Towers Watson. At Vaishnavi, he worked with Tata Group Ventures in the telecom space, and tracked other sectors while working on CARE Ratings (Credit Analysis and Research) and the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII). That is a CV with real breadth, from lenders and advisers to ratings agencies and industry bodies.

Then there is the starting point, which sets him apart from many in public relations. Kohari began in May 2007 as a reporter on Equity Wire in Newswire18 at Informist Data and Analytics Private Limited. He received training on equity, money and commodities markets, prepared reports on stock movements based on technical and fundamental analyst inputs, and wrote on the market performance as a whole. The newsroom habit of asking what the number really means has served him well since.

The lesson is simple. Agencies that want to win financial and energy clients need people who understand both the boardroom and the newsroom. Concept PR India gets a communicator with more than 19 years of experience and a deep bench of financial sector knowledge. Kohari gets a group to lead, and a fast-growing sector to lead it in.
