India TV Chairman gets unanimous Board backing as NBDA represents 29 members and 130 platforms
MUMBAI: The NBDA boardroom has kept its captain at the helm, with India TV Chairman and Editor-in-Chief Rajat Sharma unanimously re-elected as President of the News Broadcasters and Digital Association (NBDA) for 2026-27.
Sharma’s re-election was announced following a meeting of the NBDA Board of Directors, which expressed its confidence in his continued leadership for the coming year.
The association currently represents 29 leading news and current affairs broadcasters, collectively covering 130 news channels and digital platforms, making it the apex industry association for the sector.
The leadership changes also bring new faces and expanded responsibilities to the NBDA board. At its 19th Annual General Meeting, Jayant Mammen Mathew, representing MM TV Ltd., was appointed to the Board.
Rachna Burman, Director – Public Policy & Content Assurance at The Times Group, and Kshipra Jatana, Group General Counsel at Network18 Media & Investments Ltd, were also appointed as Permanent Directors of NBDA.
The rest of the Board includes M.V. Shreyams Kumar, Managing Director of Mathrubhumi Printing & Publishing Co. Ltd.; Anuradha Prasad Shukla, Chairperson and Managing Director of News24 Broadcast India Ltd.; Kalli Purie Bhandal, Vice-Chairperson and Managing Director of TV Today Network Ltd.; Anil Kumar Malhotra, Advisor at Zee Media Corporation Ltd.; Dhruba Mukherjee, Director at ABP Network Pvt. Ltd.; Rahul Kanwal, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of New Delhi Television Ltd.; and Mahesh Kumar Rajaraman, Managing Director of Sun TV Network Ltd.
With Sharma continuing as President and the board combining senior leadership from major television and digital news networks, the NBDA enters 2026-27 with its existing leadership structure largely intact while adding new representation to its governing body.
