Quint Digital posts Rs 5.83 crore consolidated loss in H1 FY27
Revenue from operations rises to Rs 71.57 crore as expenses climb to Rs 87.29 crore
MUMBAI: Quint Digital’s numbers are telling two different stories, with revenue gathering pace while the bottom line remains under pressure. The media company reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 5.83 crore for the half-year ended 30 September 2026, compared with a net profit of Rs 4.45 crore in the corresponding period last year, according to its unaudited financial results filed on 19 October.
For the quarter ended 30 September 2026, Quint Digital reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 2.86 crore, against a loss of Rs 4.36 lakh in the year-ago quarter. The latest figures underline the pressure on profitability even as the company recorded a sharp increase in revenue from operations.
Consolidated revenue from operations rose to Rs 36.78 crore in the September quarter, from Rs 7.79 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. For the first half of FY27, revenue from operations reached Rs 71.57 crore, up from Rs 15.78 crore in the year-ago period.
Total income, including other income, stood at Rs 38.78 crore in the quarter, compared with Rs 12.23 crore a year earlier. For the six months ended September 2026, total income rose to Rs 77.84 crore from Rs 28.10 crore in the corresponding period last year.
However, higher income came alongside a steep increase in expenses. Consolidated expenses for the September quarter stood at Rs 43.93 crore, against Rs 11.64 crore a year earlier. For the half-year, expenses climbed to Rs 87.29 crore from Rs 24.12 crore.
The company recorded a consolidated loss before exceptional items and tax of Rs 5.24 crore in the September quarter, compared with a profit of Rs 7.27 lakh in the corresponding quarter last year. For the first half, the loss before exceptional items and tax stood at Rs 9.82 crore, against a profit of Rs 3.24 crore in the year-ago period.
The results also reflect higher finance costs and depreciation. Finance costs for the September quarter rose to Rs 5.12 crore from Rs 56.90 lakh a year earlier, while depreciation and amortisation expenses increased to Rs 3.96 crore from Rs 1.25 crore. For the half-year, finance costs totalled Rs 8.65 crore and depreciation and amortisation expenses came to Rs 7.92 crore.
Employee benefits expenses stood at Rs 18.26 crore for the quarter, compared with Rs 5.70 crore in the year-ago period. Other expenses rose to Rs 16.60 crore from Rs 4.12 crore. Together, the figures show how the expanded cost base has weighed on the company’s operating performance despite the increase in revenue.
On a standalone basis, the picture was also challenging. Quint Digital reported a net loss of Rs 6.51 crore for the September quarter, compared with a profit of Rs 80.86 lakh in the year-ago period. For the half-year, the standalone net loss stood at Rs 10.42 crore, against a profit of Rs 6.05 crore in the corresponding period last year.
Standalone revenue from operations for the quarter was Rs 1.33 crore, compared with Rs 1.76 crore a year earlier. For the half-year, it stood at Rs 2.54 crore, against Rs 3.76 crore. Total standalone income for the six-month period declined to Rs 8.32 crore from Rs 14.69 crore.
The difference between the consolidated and standalone figures reflects the broader group structure and the contribution of its subsidiaries and other entities. The consolidated results include Quint Digital and its subsidiaries, associates and joint ventures, as detailed in the filing.
The company’s financial position also changed during the period. Consolidated total assets stood at Rs 562.01 crore as at 30 September 2026, compared with Rs 537.90 crore on 31 March 2026. Cash and cash equivalents increased to Rs 22.48 crore from Rs 13.96 crore over the same period, while current investments rose to Rs 106.30 crore from Rs 53.77 crore.
Consolidated total equity stood at Rs 351.63 crore at the end of September, against Rs 341.88 crore at the end of March. Non-current borrowings, however, increased to Rs 91.28 crore from Rs 25.27 crore, while current borrowings declined to Rs 10.54 crore from Rs 49.29 crore.
The filing also outlines steps taken to raise funds. In May 2026, the board approved a rights issue of partly paid-up compulsorily convertible preference shares (CCPS) along with detachable warrants, for aggregate consideration of up to Rs 91 crore. On 11 September 2026, the company allotted 8,261,401 partly paid-up 10 per cent non-cumulative, non-participating CCPS with a face value of Rs 100 each, of which Rs 50 was paid up per share. It also allotted 8,261,401 partly paid-up detachable warrants with a face value of Rs 10 each, of which Rs 5 was paid up per warrant.
Trading in the securities began on 18 September 2026, following the listing and trading approval granted by the BSE on 16 September. The company said there had been no deviation in the use of the rights issue proceeds from the objectives set out in the offer document. It added that Rs 84.13 lakh pending utilisation had been kept in a separate bank account for payment of rights issue expenses.
Separately, the board approved a proposal in May to raise up to Rs 100 crore through the issue of as many as 10,000 secured, unlisted, unrated, redeemable non-convertible debentures, each with a face value of Rs 1 lakh. The proposed fundraising was to be carried out in one or more tranches through private placement, subject to the necessary agreements and approvals. On 22 July 2026, the company allotted 5,000 debentures, aggregating Rs 50 crore.
The filing also records changes in the group’s business structure. Global Media Technologies Inc. (GMT), a wholly owned subsidiary of Quint Digital, entered into an amended and restated agreement with Cognita Ventures LLC on 29 August 2025 concerning Quintype Technologies Inc. Under the amended agreement, effective 1 October 2025, GMT took a 50 per cent shareholding in the joint venture, Quintype Services India Private Limited, which consequently became a subsidiary of GMT.
Quint Digital also disclosed arrangements with Time Out Market Limited and Time Out England Limited for the launch of Time Out India. The plans include Time Out Media, a digital platform curated by local influencers, and Time Out Market, an experiential food and cultural destination bringing together food, beverages and cultural experiences. The company said the project was expected to commence revenue operations during the current financial year.
The board meeting to consider the results was held on 19 October 2026, beginning at 6 pm and concluding at 9.17 pm. The unaudited standalone and consolidated results were accompanied by limited review reports.
For Quint Digital, the half-year results point to a widening gap between the growth in consolidated revenue and the pressure on profitability. The performance of its expanding business portfolio, alongside the costs and funding commitments outlined in the filing, will be important to watch in the second half of FY27.
