NEW DELHI: As India gears up for its first nationwide census exercise in nearly two decades, Promodome Communications has been appointed as the lead communication partner for the ambitious Census 2026-27 campaign.

The mandate places the agency at the centre of one of the country’s largest public outreach exercises, requiring extensive communication efforts aimed at ensuring awareness, participation and understanding across diverse linguistic and geographic regions.

As part of the assignment, Promodome Communications will develop a large volume of educational content that will be distributed in 22 regional languages. The multilingual approach is intended to help communicate census-related information effectively across India and support smooth implementation of the programme at scale.

The agency has already demonstrated its ability to manage large-scale multilingual communication projects. According to the company, it recently produced and delivered multiple radio jingles in different languages within a week, highlighting its capability to work under tight timelines while maintaining quality standards.

Speaking on the project, Promodome Group director Mayank Kapur said the campaign demanded extensive language adaptation and rapid execution.

“The project required multiple languages and maintaining tight deadlines during its execution. The team achieved record-breaking success by producing high-quality materials which demonstrate their commitment to excellence,” said Promodome Group director Mayank Kapur.

The census exercise will begin with the House Listing and Housing Census phase, which involves collecting information on housing conditions and household characteristics across the country. The agency is now preparing for the next stage of communication planning ahead of the second phase, which will focus on the actual population enumeration exercise scheduled to begin in February 2027.

The appointment further strengthens Promodome Communications’ portfolio of government and large-scale public sector mandates. The agency, which has more than 25 years of experience, is known for delivering integrated campaigns across digital, print, radio and on-ground platforms for both public and private sector clients.

With the Census 2026-27 expected to generate one of the most comprehensive datasets on India’s population and housing landscape, effective communication will be crucial. Promodome’s task will be to ensure that the message reaches every corner of the country, making participation in the census as clear and accessible as possible.
